Candidate Statement

As a graduate of District 230, a business owner, and a father of three kids in the district, I am honored for the opportunity to serve the community that has given so much to me. I want to ensure that our schools provide the best education possible for every student while being fiscally responsible to our taxpayers.

As a business owner, I bring extensive experience in negotiating contracts, managing budgets, overseeing insurance and employment, facility maintenance, cost analysis and on. These skills, along with my experience as a parent, are critical to making informed, responsible decisions that benefit both our students and our community.

One of my top priorities is improving student test scores, which have continually fallen, even preceding COVID. Other districts have recovered but we are lagging. We need to refocus on academic excellence and ensure our students have the resources and support they need to succeed. Additionally, I am committed to improving the learning environment for both students and teachers because when teachers have the tools and support they need, our students will thrive.

At the same time, we must be accountable to our taxpayers. Our tax levy has continually increased while student performance has declined. That needs to change. As a district, we need better returns on our investments. I will work to bring financial discipline and efficiency to our district without compromising the quality of education.

Our school board has experienced far too much turnover in recent years, creating instability when our district needs steady leadership. I am committed to serving for many years, bringing consistency, accountability, and a long-term vision to our schools. Our students, teachers, and community deserve leadership that is in it for the long haul.

I firmly believe in collaboration and teamwork. While I bring my experience and perspective, I will always listen to our experts - our educators, administrators, staff, committee members, and fellow board members - so we can work together to achieve meaningful wins for our district.

To me, there is no more important and rewarding role than that of school board member. The responsibility of preparing our students for a new future, while maintaining fiscal responsibility for a huge portion of YOUR tax dollars is immeasurable. I would be honored to have your support and your vote to help build a stronger future for our students and community, and make District 230 a model of success statewide.
